Geneva

Geneva is a beautiful city in Switzerland situated at the western end of Lake Geneva. This city is a headquarter for a number of multinational corporations as well as associations. 1. Lake Geneva

2. St. Peter’s Cathedral

After the lake Geneva, this one is also one of the places to visit. St. Peter’s Cathedral is a Romanesque-style cathedral. It dates back to the year 1160. The cathedral also owns the greatest architectural sites in Europe. It also hosts many beautiful mosaics from the 14th century. This cathedral is the property of Swiss Reformed Church. This one is also the church of the famous French Reformer, John Calvin. Here you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Geneva skyline along with Swiss Alps. Moreover, the surrounding cityscape is also very beautiful.

3. Jardin Botanique of Geneva

Another place to visit is Jardin Botanique. It is on the southeast of the Ariana, just between the Avenue de la Paix and the Chemin de l’Impératrice. If you are a fan of nature and greenery this one is the perfect spot for you. The Geneva’s botanical garden dates back to 1902 in case to replace a smaller one that was in Parc des Bastions. It has greenhouses and has gardens as well as a conservatory to about 28 hectares. This garden features around 12,000 and more species of plants and trees. Here there is an alpine garden that displays plants from Switzerland’s high elevations.

4. Place du Bourg-de-Four

This popular Place du Bourg-de-Four, is typically in the heart of Geneva’s Old Town located just near the Temple de Saint-Pierre. Also one of the oldest squares in the city has a charming and atmospheric effect. This place is basically on the site of the Roman forum and also an important market ninth century onward. Also, many exiled Protestants could find shelter and refuge here during the 16th century. Nowadays you can find refuge in the cafes and restaurants here. These cafes also spill out onto the pavement in good weather.

5. Musée d’Art et d’Histoire

If you are an art and history lover, this one is among the best places for you. This is also among the largest three museums of Switzerland. Owing to the merger of several regional museums this place has some exceptional collections. Also, its collections are from added donations from private collectors. So, it basically covers some applied and fine art and technology along with the collection of weapons. The Treasures of this museum include Green and Roman art treasures, Middle Eastern as well as Eastern Mediterranean antiquities.

6. Bastions Park of Geneva

Bastion Park is a very nice park situated just on the southern side of Lake Geneva. Bastion Park is near the Old Town in the centre of the city. It is also the International Monument to the Reformation Wall on the east side. This is one of the iconic sites in the Park. This monument commemorates the main events and figures of the Protestant Reformation. This also displays the statues of Guillaume Farel, Jean Calvin, Théodore de Bèze and John Knox. This park displays a set of life-size chessboards so that you can play with. Also, this has a Pavillion Café Bar wherein you can relax. This park is usually crowded with students.
